Final conference of the focus group: „Career histories as drivers of innovation during demographic change“

The potential of careers and intergenerational dialogue

On the 20th and 21st November 2014 the final conference for “Innovation opportunities in the demographic change – the potential of careers and intergenerational dialogue” as undertaken by the focus group “Career histories as drivers of innovation during demographic change”, took place at the Wissenschaftspark in Gelsenkirchen.

The focus group comprises four sub-projects:

• DEBBI - Discontinuous careers as an innovative opportunity

• GenBa - Generation balance - Balanced age structures as innovation resource

• iNec - Innovation through expert communities in demographic change

• Pinowa - Phase sensitive working life personnel management as a driver of innovation and demographic change

Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research Network projects, the focus group 'Careers as drivers of innovation during demographic Change "share a common goal to initiate interdisciplinary, design-oriented research that fosters innovation design of careers in the business model and implementation. During the run time of the project, demographics-oriented models of organizational design, concepts of human resource development as well as methods for the determination of innovation potentials were developed, mature and practically tested to enable innovation-designing work histories particularly with regard to the sustained potential of older workers.

At the closing session the respective main results of the four joint projects were presented and discussed. Finally, the progress achieved by all projects was collected and discussed relevant to the future research and design issues.
