Cooperative Training of Elderly care skills in China
The Project-Team:
Following a period which has seen an increase in social aging, higher life expectancy, and changes in Chinese society, the requirement to update and revise training in professional elderly care nursing skills in China is becoming increasingly important.
The project aims to export newly the developed educational services in the elderly care nursing to China. At the core of the project is a group of internationally and professionally skilled scientists and organisational consultants creating a German-Chinese educational and training partnership between KBS Mönchengladbach and the Fushun Medical School, China. A modular framework of qualifications is being developed for both inpatient and outpatient elderly care. A 12 month pilot phase for Chinese nursing staff, and Chinese nursing training staff from the medical school in Fushun, will be tested. The training programme will also include modules for “Train the Trainer” that will train elderly care expert instructors for China. The aim is to develop transferable business model for the export of educations and training in the elderly care nursing sector, and to cement the German-Chinese training partnership so that it can be applied in different areas in the future. The training and education structures must be developed in-line with Chinese standards and practice so that professionals with a professional culture for Chinese elderly care can be established, which is accepted and appreciated by society. FIAP is responsible for project coordination, evaluation and development of the scientific principles. As a research institute, our goal is to gain an encompassing knowledge about the social and cultural framework for nursing education across countries and to develop design options for a cross-cultural adaptation of educational content. These findings will feed into the development of new science-based training models for German-Chinese cooperation in nursing education. The business model should be transferable to other areas of training. FIAP manages the project coordination, is responsible for the evaluation of the mobilisation process and for developing the scientific basis for implementation and processing.
